Questions about Identity History Summary

I did try to google this question but I can't seem to find anything to help me understand. Perhaps one of you can help me. FYI I am a US citizen applying for a PR with my husband (a canadian citizen) as my sponsor.

Is an Identity History Summary from the FBI what I need? Is that the same thing as a Police Certificate? Is the PDF file the FBI sends you with the letter okay to e-mail in or do you actually need a hard copy?

Yes that is what you need and yes you can use the PDF sent after the eDO application was completed. We ended up ordering the hard copy just in case though and kept it at home with us.

So it seems like the hard copy was not a requirement as part of the application process right ? I mean we should be able to just take a print of the provided PDF of the certificate correct ?

Yes that is correct . You can print it out and send it with your application.
