Hi,
I'm French canadian (Canada citizen) and I've been living in Australia for 9 years. I wish to return to quebec, Canada and live near my family with my Australian husband and our daughter, who's also Australian.

I have applied for a certificate of citizenship in Sydney Australia for my daughter in December and received a letter saying it would take between 12 and 14 months to be processed...so my question about her is: do I include her in the family sponsorship application? Or can she come to Canada on a holiday visa until her Canadian citizenship gets approved?

Also, we are filling up the forms for the family sponsorship and it's all a bit confusing. In the form IMM 0008 Generic application form for Canada, they ask when you applied for a CSQ (certificat de sélection du Québec) and that if you haven't yet applied, you should do so now. But when filling up the forms for a CSQ, they say you can't apply until you get approved by the Citizenship and Immigration Canada...so which one to we need to apply for first?

Has anyone else have trouble with all this?

I would love to sit down with someone or speak to someone over the phone about all these questions but it's proven to be hard to "talk" to anyone...I tried calling offices in Australia, Canada and Quebec and failed to get help. Please let me know if you can help us.

Thank you.

You do not include your daughter in the application, since she is not being sponsored, and cannot be sponsored. Include her birth certificate showing you as the parent. If you have any receipts or proof of the application for your daughter's citizenship, then include them in the application. Your daughter can enter on her Australian passport as a visitor.

You apply for the CSQ when CIC requests it. I'm not sure how people filled that form in, so do a search, and I'm sure you'll find a few threads about that.

Good luck.
