Hello all

Googled about Canadian immigration and this forum popped up, i am new here will appreciate your time and responses to my questions...

i am in the US for about 7 years now, completed my masters in EE and now working as an engineer on H1B visa, i would like to immigrate to Canada under skilled worker class. i took the eligibility test on cic website and have few questions:

1- Where can i get my education evaluation ECA(Educational credential assessment) ... website says it has to be issued by an organization designated by CIC ?

2- Do i have to take IELTS?

3- What are the timelines for entire process for Indian citizens?

I hope to gather all the documents and send my application in a month... however i would like to visit Canada during Christmas break; can i apply for visitor visa while my other application is in process?

Thanks

@ cyrax

Start from here, this is on the same website where you took the eligibility test
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EG7TOC.asp

Ans to question 1 - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assessment.asp
Open the draw down box and see the list of designated organisations and make your choice
Ans to question 2 - YES, is MANDATORY as part of the minimum requirement, you will see that after reading through the first link which is the application guide
Ans to question 3 - It varies on a case by case basis. Officially CIC website is reporting NDVO as 22months (see this web page http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/skilled-fed.asp), but it has been known to be a lot less than that.

If you browse through the post on this thread http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/fsw-2013-applicants-timeline-lets-network-here-t146774.65940.html, it will give you an idea what the current time line is at NDVO

Goodluck on your FSW journey.
