Hello, as I cannot locate my old thread (maybe it deleted) I will start a new one
I am a Vietnamese woman who came to Canada single on a student visa, studying accounting. I have already earned an accounting degree in Vietnam and have several years experience but am studying for Canadian credentials before I come to work. While I was studying and on fixed income, I left my son with my parents in Vietnam, something that was very hard for me.
Now, I met someone here and we married. He is sponsoring my on my application for PR. When we sent it in by mail, we listed my son as not accompanying because we did not understand the meaning of the question, since he was still in Vietnam. Now, we are trying to understand how to amend the application in progress so I can bring him here as soon as possible.
Here are the difficulties we are encountering;
1) I created an online profile using a bank account sign in, and used it to apply for a co-op work permit as I was told to do. I have since tried to add my application to my online profile. Every attempt has told me my application does not yet exist in the system, despite them sending my Husband an email telling him the application was in progress with an application number. I have messaged them using the webform several times, but they simply tell me to try linking my application, never answering my question about why it is not working. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this normal, or a sign of something wrong with my application? Who do I talk to about this, or how do I ask the right questions? I tried the phone line, but I could not reach an agent, when I got to the option to talk to an agent to explain exactly my problem the line simply said they could not connect me and hung up on me. This was on Monday.
2) I have messaged them asking how to amend my application. They responded with a statement including this;
To do so, we invite you to complete the following forms and mail them to the Case Processing Center (REDACTED)
3) Is there any visa or status I could apply for my son to come to live with me before my PR goes through? I would like to bring him this summer, but my application only arrived in late October to the processing office and I am told it could take up to a year for it to go through. Could he come as a visitor or as a temporary resident and attend school or the like, or do I need to wait until he is here under my PR status?
Any and all help is appreciated. This forum has been very useful and good to me so far, I appreciate the support you all offer. I simply want to be here in Canada and be happy with my son in our new home.
