I'm wondering how I do this...I see that I email Mississauga, and should I email LA as well, since that is where my notes said my file last was. And do I cancel it as the sponsor or as the applicant, again I'm not sure who's info they want. Thanks

I see from your other posts that your husband's file was transferred to LA in May and you guys haven't heard back. Also, you will be travelling the world in December, so it begs the question - why are you cancelling the application? If you are not beyond the processing times, it is normal to not hear from them for a while. If your medical expires, they can extend it on their end administratively or will request a redo - no need for alarm.

If it was me, I would go on my trip and check mail regularly. If there is an interview, I'd cross that bridge then. You've waited almost a year, perhaps you may want to wait it out (final decision is yours obviously). Immigration is a long and tiring process which calls for a lot of patience. Hope it all works out well for you.

while for some visa offices, yes the process can be long, for us applicants with files in LA, the current *trend* for approval is 12-16 months at the MOST. If the file is in LA, then the interview will be called, and probably on the sooner side based on their stats. The posted processing time listed is completely misleading and does not reflect what current applicants are experiencing. We have also seen recent cases where CIC rejects the application because the couple does not plan to settle in canada immediately upon approval. so if a US applicant and their sponsor plan to be across the world, not easily accessible to LA or Canada for 1.5 years, it's not worth getting rejected. In my opinion, it's far better to withdraw and reapply when they are ready to settle in Canada.

Thanks for clarifying. I didn't realise they plan to be away for 1.5 yrs. In that case, withdrawing makes sense.
