Hi everyone... :)

I'm a Canadian citizen who's about to sponsor my Indonesian wife to Canada (outland, through Singapore). We have no children, and I am only sponsoring her.

I'm going through all the checklists, and I just would like to clarify certain things:

1. The following checklist:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3906e.pdf

has point 7 which says:

"Provide birth certificates, baptismal certificates or other official document confirming relationship (including all pages of Household Registries, if applicable) for you and each of your family members.
If you are married, you must include a marriage certificate."

Since we have a husband and wife relationship, am I correct to assume that my wife doesn't need to submit her birth certificate? Our marriage certificate is enough right?

2. As far as I am concerned, I think the sponsor has to submit a proof of his Canadian citizenship...either a copy of his passport or Canadian citizenship certificate.

I guess I'm going to submit a copy of my Canadian passport...which brings me to my next question: since it's already in English, it doesn't have to be certified by a notary public...correct?

3. As you all know, any documents that are not in English, have to be translated by a sworn translator, and certified by a notary public.

However......please take a look....this is a sample of an Indonesian police clearance certificate...as you can see, it's bilingual, in Indonesian and English.

So since Indonesian police certificates already have English captions, I guess my wife only has to submit her ORIGINAL police certificate? No sworn translation and notary public certification is necessary then?

She also need to submit her original birth certificate.

you need it to be certified true copy. All photocopies must be certified.

3. As you all know, any documents that are not in English, have to be translated by a sworn translator, and certified by a notary public.

A photocopy is fine. Your form states "Send photocopies of all other documents, unless instructed otherwise. If your documents are not in English or French, send a notarized (certified) translation with a copy of the originals."

If the birth certificate is not in english you will need to get a certified translation done as well.

It depends in country specifications.. Our is to pass original copy of birth certificate from statistics office. :)
