Hello everyone,
My name is Stephanie and I am a Lebanese citizen who graduated from a nationally accredited university in my country not so long ago. I hold a degree in Computer Science as well as several Microsoft certificates awarded to me by Microsoft Corporation in the US. My brother is a permanent resident in Canada and I'd like to go and live with him and hopefully find a job there and work there for 2 or 3 years. Is it true that if my parents are still alive, he can't sponsor me? That's silly!

I have an offer of admission from a university in Norway to continue my MS degree there, but I'm extremely tired of sitting in classrooms and learn stuff right now, I just want to do something with my life already. I want to travel and meet new people and work. Right now, I'd like to go to Canada and experience the Canadian culture. I'm sorry for rambling, I'm really bad at making posts, I guess what I'm trying to ask is, how exactly can I go to Canada? Like what is the best visa program for me if my brother is unable to sponsor me? I do not want to immigrate or anything because I'm not planning on residing there for a long time.

Thank you for reading my post.

If you don't plan to live there for a long time, then to make it easy for you, don't apply to immigrate. Apply instead for a visitor visa. Chances are you could get approved for a multiple entry visitor visa that can last you the life of your entire passport. Then you can come to Canada to stay for 6 months max potentially, then if you want to stay longer, apply for an extension afterwards.

If you don't plan on living in Canada, why bother being sponsored? Besides you also have to fulfill the residency requirements to keep your PR once you get it.

Correct - your brother cannot sponsor you. It's not silly - it's the rules.

Without having at least a year of full time and paid experience in a skilled job - there's really no immigration program you can qualify for at this time. You'll have to wait until you've finished school and have at least one year of work experience.

If you want to work in Canada for a few years you'll need to first find an employer who is willing to offer you a full time job. That employer will then have to obtain something called an LMIA (approval to hire you). Only then will you be able to apply for a work permit. It's typically very difficult to find employers willing to hire foreign workers.
