I am currently waiting for my PR to come through and plan on beginning work on February 3, 2014. (I already have a decision Made status)
I am currently on EI and will obviously inform them immediately on commencing work.
However I am pregnant and due in June.
I know that I need 600 hours of work to qualify for EI - is this the same requirement for maternity payments? Also, can I include overtime in those 600 hrs - meaning I'm a week short if we go from feb 3 to the due date, based on a 30 hour week (ie 20 weeks): however if I do a 37 hour week, will they let me hit that 600 hour mark quicker?

Thank you!

If you look at http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/ei/types/maternity_parental.shtml#eligible it says insurable hours so as long as you are paying into EI from your hours worked, your hours should count towards the 600 required.
