Hi guys, I'm a Canadian citizen planning to marry someone in China. I'm just wondering if anyone could share an example on the contents mentioned in that statement (e.g. does it mention anything on my permanent address, previous divorce, etc.?). From what I understood, this document needs to be translated into Chinese and notarised as part of the marriage requirement and I'd like to know how complicated the wordings are so there won't be any ambiguity that could raise issues that would slow our marriage application in the near future.

Thanks a lot in advance!

I can only tell you about the Russian process. It was much better to use a document service in Ottawa unless you have a LOT of time and expertise. They will tell you exactly what they need and they first go to the Canadian government and then to the Russian embassy in our case. The Russians prepare it in their language.

I got mine in Kyiv, Ukraine at the Canadian Embassy. It wasn't hard to get at all.

Then we took it to a local translation and notary service and had it translated.

I can't recall what exactly it said, but I'm pretty sure it didn't have my address on it. And I was never married before so there wasn't a whole lot on the document.
