Hello,
I am getting engaged in early March and am also getting registered marriage.
The ceremony and registered marriage will take place in India.
I want to start immigration process for my spouse by end of March.
Are our engagement ceremony pictures and registered marriage certificate good enough to carry out the process ?
Or the picture proofs have to be full traditional marriage ?
We getting married on December 25th which is fixed.
Thanks

Hello tarangp - You can always start your application process regardless as the questions and answers in the form, do allow you to explain yourself. To make a case stronger it is always wiser to provide the immigration officer all the proof for your relationships.

Some examples are
- Wedding/Registration/Reception Pictures
- Group Pictures with Family Friends and Relatives
- Bills/Hotel Stay/Travel Plans/ Trips
- Communication Proof via Email/phone bills/skype/whatsapp
- Financial Support for Spouse/ Sending Money

They always want to see a growth in relationship and to prove it is genuine , so even if you have communication proof of your relationship prior to your wedding do put it in.

Note you can also include Wedding Invitation for your Dec 25th - All the best.

I understand that you are getting engaged and doing the register marriage only to start the immigration process. Right ?

In that case try to take as many pictures as possible with all of ur relatives and save up all ur expense receipts. Include a cover letter informing about the traditional marriage in December. And of course loads of other proof.
Also you need to be in ongoing contact with ur spouse till Dec 25 and beyond and keep collecting proofs.
And submit all of this proof in Jan 2016.

I am sure your file be in process around that time considering Stage 1 takes 89 days now.

Once you have registered your marriage, change your Marital Status to Married wherever it is required. For example: Passport (In India PPT office will add name of your wife), Your wife should also do the same, with Tax Department etc.

Thanks you all. These are some great advices i will keep in mind.

I think main one are
- Photos and conversations
- Including invitation card for traditional wedding
- Cover letter explaining traditional wedding in Dec
- Updating status to married on official documents.

Keep in mind that the only proof of acceptance that you are married is a) Marriage Certificate and b) Marriage Registration Licence. If if it says in your passport or other document as married it is not an acceptable proof.
