I had the same question under a different topic, so I apologize for posting it again...in my defence I felt I will be able to get a better response if it was under its own topic..so bare with me..

I have a question for the members, whos sponsorship applications have been approved by CIC and sent to the respective visa office for processing.

On e-cas, when it said "decision made" did it say the following

" Application received by CPCM on xxxxxx, We sent you a letter on xxx xx, xxxx about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us."

Or did it say

"Application received by CPCM on xxxx,

We started processing your application on...........,

We sent you a letter on xxx xx, xxxx about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us."

Does the processing line get added after the status changes to "In Process" ? If so how long does that take ?

or

if you dont see it, is it an indication that the letter you are about to recieve will state that your application was rejected, incomplete etc ?

Mine said:

We received your application to sponsor ****** ***** on January 15, 2010.

We started processing your application on February 4, 2010.

We sent you a letter on February 4, 2010 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

I believe the line was added the same day as ecas changed to In Process as CIC-M usually make sponsorship decisions fairly quickly. Once it reached the embassy in the foreign country however, it just said 'In Process' and the date they received the application for a while before any updates were made.
In Process means just that ... no decision has been made yet; 'they are working on it' (or they haven't updated e-cas in a zillion years).

Just my experience - someone may have better info for you.

You should see 'Decision Made' regardless of the outcome of the decision (positive or negative).

I actually have a similar questions as lands. My eCAS also says:

"We received your application to sponsor XXXXX on March 26, 2010. We sent you a letter on May 19, 2010 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us."

It does not say anything along the lines of "We started processing your application on...".

Lands is the only other person I can find who has this issue, and I have done as exhaustive a search as I believe possible. The only other situation similar to ours I could find was by a blogger who posted the following info (i've removed the personal details):

We received your application to sponsor XXXXXXXXXX on June 25, 2005. We started processing your application on July 11, 2005.
We returned your application with a letter on July 11, 2005. You may re-apply or resubmit your application when the information requested is provided.

We received the application that you resubmitted on July 27, 2005. Thank you.

We sent you a letter on August 04, 2005 about the decision on your application.

That person's application was ultimately accepted. But the difference is that their initial notification did mention processing (that was only omitted once they had resubmitted).

Maybe we're splitting hairs here, but does anyone know whether this means anything??

Well I guess I can answer my own question..it depends on your VISA office..mine actually showed up once the local visa office started processing the second stage(PR application)...

Bottom line..nothing to worry about

STS it will not state that untill it reaches the visa office then when they open it they will state they started to process online it will say in process. The first part is just stating that it was accepted to sponsor from mississauga and now will be sent off to the visa office.
So they are sending you a letter to state that you have or have not been approved to sponsor once that reaches you they will tell you the app has been sent to the visa office so the PR part can process.
Hope this helps
