Sorry guys another stupid question. Feel like my brain has gone to mush :-\

On the sponsorship form it asks my status: common law then asks when the relationship started: ?

Is this the date when our relationship first began (eg. dating) or when we entered into the common law (eg moved in together) ?

Arghhh...feeling dumb. Withdrew the first inland application and reapplying outland. Want it to be perfect this time :)

I used the date that we met and started dating, even though we didn't move in together for another year and a half.

I figured it asked for the date the relationship started, not the date that the co-habitation started, but I definitely thought about which date was more correct in this case. Also, it seemed to me that either way, as long as it was more than a year before the application was filed, it shouldn't be too much of a problem, really, and definitely explainable if need be.

I think the relationship they are asking about is the common-law relationship, so I would put the day you started living together.

I'd write the date you started dating. They're looking for things like growth of a relationship--so obviously showing that you were dating and then made a decision to live together shows growth. There's another question later where it asks if you've lived together, that's when you put that date. :)

but if the question asks for the date immediately after asking for marital status, i'm quite sure it means the beginning of that status, not when you started dating.

Thanks everyone!!! You guys are great. It doesn't explain it in the guide for some reason. I think they try to make it hard :)

me too, I put the date when we met
