Hello PMM, I wanted to clarify something about ecas and what address they use to send letters.

Back in 2007 my wife applied for a skilled worker visa and we used a consultant to help with the paperwork, that visa is still processing with no updates. Recently I sponsored my wife and I was quickly approved as a sponsor and the file was quickly sent to the visa office for my wife’s country. Once that started processing we got the AOR a few weeks later, however when we checked the file number on ecas it listed both her Skilled Worker visa and her Spouse Sponsorship visa. So now both her old file number and new file number both show the same 2 visas, and at the top is the address of the consultant on both file numbers and not the address we had put as the mailing address in the spouse sponsorship application.

So do you think they will use the address of the consultant if they want to send a letter? And is it normal to have both visas listed there? I’m just a little concerned with the 2 visas linked together, I thought they would be separate with separate file numbers. Also should we notify the Canadian embassy about this?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

1. If you didn't cancel the representative document for the applications, then CIC is not going to guess, they probably think that the consultant is still representing her.
2. Only one file per customer. They want all the paperwork in one place.

That’s odd, when I called the CIC they said it would be different file number, and we also got the right AOR on the right mailing address, but I’m unsure about future letters, should we submit an address change? And if it’s one file per customer, then doesn’t that mean there should be only 1 active file number?
