Hi,

I need your help & advice, I have obtained my police clearance from my country & it was extremely hard, I just noticed that they did a mistake in my certificate with regards to my age (not my birthday), they calculate my age wrong it was off by 3 years. All other information is accurate expect for my age, what should I do? I don’t have the option to obtain a second copy, should I write a letter to point out the mistake & attach to my application or should I submit my application without an explanation letter?

I would suggest you should not submit the pcc. You can submit your app without pcc and get another one with correct info. You have the option to submit pcc later so y take chance

Its almost impossible to obtain another copy, i had to go through alot of headack to get the copy i have. all information on the certificate are accureate execpt of the age calculation.

Would writing a letter be ok?

Any reponse from experianced members will be appricated ... plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

If your DOB and other particulars are correct, and if there is a date on the PCC, then I suggest you submit it. If you want to write an explanation about why you are not requesting a corrected version, that's probably a good idea.

Thank you jes_ON for the response :)

Hmmm. I'd like to rephrase - If all the other information is correct, the error in calculating age will be obvious. So it might be a good idea if you wrote an explanation about how difficult it would be to obtain a corrected version, and ask CIC to inform you whether or not that is necessary.

Hi jes_ON, here's what i was thinking of sending, is this letter ok?

Dear Case Officer:

We have noticed a minor typo mistake in XXXXX Police Clearance certificate on the second page under the age section. The Forensic Evidence Dept. did a mistake with writing XXXXX age; they calculated the age as XX when he is actually XX. All other information on the Police Certificate (including date of birth, name, passport number etc.) is accurate except for the age.

It is extremely difficult to obtain Police Certificates from XXXX especially for XXX nationals, if this version is not acceptable due to this minor mistake in the age calculation please let us know, and we will try to obtain another copy.

I think that will be OK - good luck!

Thank you jes_ON :),
