Hi everyone,

I and my wife had applied PR under common law case.
It took about 9 months to get my first stage approval...(it came this mid september)
my question is how much longer would I complete my application to become a PR
or anyone has similar experience with this case?

Thanks

That is what it says, but as every case is different, some are faster, some slower.

That is why many people apply outland, it is usually faster and if you are refused then you can appeal the decision.
You can be in Canada and still apply outland.

The second stage can be quick sometimes it takes a long time. It's basically depends how long it takes to complete your background checks. You could always order your Foss notes and see what they say!

If you google CIC Foss notes it will take you to a form and directions. I cant link it from my phone. Foss notes are the notes that the IO makes on your file. It gives people insight into what's going on with your application.

Come over to the INLANDERS threads or just read them- one is 106 pages and the other 60. There is a timeline of everyone on there and they can answer your questions. the details on ordering FOSS notes are there also.

sorry but what is the difference between FOSS notes and CAPS notes; also, if u order them at some point u will see what happened until that point right? if u want to see what happens after do u need to order them again and pay again?

thanks!

CAIPS notes are for overseas apps FOSS for Inland. Yes the notes only show what has been input so far. If you wanted to see them again you would have order them again.

i see....thank u for the fast reply KelKel...yeah i'll be doing an outland application, that is why this term was not familiar to me...cheers!

It all depends on where your landing interview is to be held. For me, I received my AIP on 27th April 2010 and then got my landing interview in Vancouver less than 4 weeks later.

When I received AIP though, the letter did explain that my application had been finished. Did your initial AIP letter state this?

If so, then it could just be that the local office of landing is backed up.

Also, many people state that security background checks are done after AIP but in my case, these were all completed before my AIP.

Sometimes, CIC is very confusing.
