Question about PR Expiry Date

Hi folks

I just glanced at my PR card, and am a little confused, and hoped someone may be able to clear things up.

The expiry date on my card states "18 Aug", which I'll take to mean "August 2018", rather than literally the 18th day of August of some unknown year....(!).

However, next to this is the French date - "Aout 19". Presumably meaning August 2019.

Huh?

Any clarification on this would be much appreciated!

Oh *thats* how you read it? Wow, wasn't designed very well at all.

That does make sense, seeing as I got it in Aug last year, so 5 years would be to 2019.

How to read new PR card expiry date: (PR card date confusion)

1- Front (Date of Birth/ Date de naissance):
Writes: 15 AUG / AOUT 86
Read: August 15, 1986
2- Front (Expiry / Expiration):
Writes: 17 OCT / OCT 25
Read: Oct 17, 2025
3- Back (PR Since / RP depuis):
Writes: 11 OCT/ OCT 20
Read: Oct 11, 2020
