Hi,
I have almost 2 years of fulltime and 5 years as RA/TA in USA (so I guess it is part-time since it is 20 hours per week). (I have some other but don't want to use it so I skip that).
in eligibility page it asks:
In the last 10 years, how many years of skilled work experience do you have? It must have been continuous, paid, full-time (or an equal amount in part-time), and in only one occupation
is it 2 + 5 = 7 or 2 + 5/2 = 4.5 ?

specifically, what equal amount in above quote means?

also why one occupation? so when you change job all your other job just get neglected?

According to CIC, work experience gained during any study period is not counted. You may want to confirm that before proceeding if your TA/RA experience was in that scenario. They will ask for a primary NOC during the EE profile which your PR application will be based on - you need at least continuous full time 1 year work ex in this NOC. The rest can be spread out.

The max points are for 3 years work ex - so anything more than that will not give any additional points - you can answer it anyways. You will have to provide a detailed work history with timeline in the EE profile which is what will be used for validation.

Assuming you worked 40 hours for 2 years in your full time job that basically gives you 3120 hours of experience, since CIC only counts 30 hours per week.

As for you time as a TA/RA, you end up getting

20x4 =80 hours per month
80x12 = 960 hours per year
960 x5 years = 4800

So 4800/30 = 160 weeks of full time work which is around 3 years of work experience. So in Total, you get 5 years of work experience. Remember, I haven't taken into account any holidays or unpaid vacation time. These things can bring your hours down.

If you were paid during your time at TA/RA in the US, this experience will be accepted as long as you can get reference letters etc.

thanks I think RA/TA outside of Canada is counted for your score. But I think I prob even don't need it.

I believe the above applies for Canadian experience and people entering as CEC candidates.
