Hey all, I was wondering if I could get some advice on my current situation. My boyfriend is planning on applying to sponsor me to stay with him in Quebec. We've been in a long distance relationship since March 2013. I visited him in Canada twice (for a month each time), while he visited me in Australia for a month as well. I came over on a WHV through the IEC program in July last year and it is valid for two years. Now I've been reading a few posts and I'm fairly certain going Outland is the best choice but I have a few questions about it.

1. Can we apply as De Facto spouses?
The Quebec immigration page isn't quite clear on this. It says we are considered De Facto if we have "been living maritally for at least one year with the sponsor." Does it mean the time together must be in consecutive with no separations in between? With our trips to each others countries we're up to about 13 months together in person but if the time is consecutive then it has only been 11 months. If that's the case then,

2. Should we apply as conjugal partners now or wait until July rolls around and apply De Facto?
I don't really want to wait longer because I'm afraid of my WHV expiring while the application processes but I'm not sure if they are more likely to question the validity of the relationship if we apply as conjugal. Would it be safer to wait?

3. If my WHV does expire while I'm here and waiting for the application, what can I do?
I don't think I can apply to get it extended since I came over with the IEC. Can I stay in Canada as long as I don't work? Do I need to apply for something else to be able to stay?

Sorry for the boatload of questions, I've been going over all the websites for a while and the amount of information is doing my head in. ???

Thanks in advanced!

1. You have to live together a year continuously. So if you moved together last July and have been living together continuously since then - you'll qualify in July of this year. If you apply a day before you have been living together continuously for a year - you'll be refused.
2. Conjugal will be refused since there's nothing stopping you from getting married or becoming common law.
3. You'll need to apply to change your status to visitor.
