I have a friend who is currently a student with a student permit that only allows them to work 20 hours per week however they also got approved for a closed work permit with a production company. They recently applied for an advertising job and was chosen for the job. They would like to know if its possible for them to take the advertising job via the student permit without causing any issues or conflict with their closed work permit like working 20 hours different from her closed work permit. Any help would appreciated, thank you.

1. If your friend gets an approved closed work permit, it will limit them to only working for that company, It will have a statement to that effect on it.
2. It will "trump" his/her study permit, in that it should have the statement no study. So s/he will have to make a decision, continue with studies or work.

Thank you for the answer, id like to follow up if its alright. One of the conditions mentioned in their closed work permit is "Unless Authorized, prohibited from attending any educational institutions etc..." , whose authority would they have to ask to be granted permission to continue their study?

1. As my previous post, it would be CIC and it is extremely unlikely, So no school as it appears that s/he already has the closed work permit. Also no other work than the company named in the work permit.

Is your friend still attending school after getting the closed WP and working for the production company?
Yes they are, they told me that the immigration officer near the border told them that they could still attend school until the work permit expires. My friend's wondering if they could still take the advertising job since the study permit is still valid and were not taken away by the immigration officer."

You see, there is one trouble. Study permit has conditions. One condition is being a full time student. How can a person be a full time student and a full time employee at the same time? For limited hours per week, they already have authorization in study permit. If they do both, they can violate condition on study permit.
