Good morning all! I hope that you are doing well despite the crisis.
I wanted to ask a question regarding the assessment of financial capacity to sponsor a parent in Quebec (even if I know that I will not be able to do so for a long time). I used the electronic calculator to get an overview of the gross annual income required to sponsor my mother. However, for the moment my income from work combined with that of my husband is insufficient to this minimum that is required. I know there is the option to submit information about our other assets and sources of income. It is in relation to this that I have a question.
Points 5.6 and 8.6 of Form A-0535-F (2018-10) ask, roughly translated: "Do you have capital invested in investment funds: registered retirement savings plans (RRSPs), tax-free savings account (TFSA), etc. ?" So if, for example, the gross annual income required is $50,000, and my combined employment income with that of my husband is $40,000, if I have say $15,000 in a TFSA (so $40,000 + $15,000 = $55,000), is it possible that the MIFI accepts our undertaking request?
