I've a US Green Card, is it ok not to apply for an eTA if I am travelling to Canada this August?

I am currently in-between jobs, so I'd have to write "Unemployed" in the eTA form, which I am worried could lead to a rejection. I am visiting family for a few days and entering through the US by air.

So, if I travel by air before September 26, can would just traveling with the Green Card and my foreign passport be ok!?

Did you see this note http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=593&top=16

Not sure being unemployed has any bearing on the ETA as is simply authority to board a plane. Same as the question how much money will you have seems irrelevant for a 5 year ETA.

Ultimately nobody really knows how airlines will work this post September 29 given all the exceptions to the ETA requirement hopefully they will just have a yes/ no decision and not have to interpret anything else we all in trouble.

Travelling August you do not need ETA anyway just usual documentation to enter Canada
