Hello guys,

I need urgent help please as I received from CIC this morning that my husband's application for PR is close to completion. I am a Canada PR and am sponsoring my husband from outside Canada but he lives here in Canada with me as a visitor. My question is would CIC abroad processing my husband application require him to come and get the CORP or can they just send it via mail since he's in Canada already and don't need an immigrant visa. Answers will be much appreciated.

Your husbands COPR will be mailed to the address that CIC has on file for him

If he's currently residing in Canada as a visitor, then you should have changed his mailing address with the visa office to your Canadian address. In this case they would send the COPR directly to Canadian address.

If you didn't change your address, then it will be mailed to whatever address is on file in home country. In that case you'll need to get someone to receive the mail, and courier the COPR docs to him in Canada.

Thanks Alura71 and Rob_TO.... What if they want to interview him? Can he request this be done in Canada?

Thanks a lot.

The interview will be held at the visa office processing the application.

If CIC has told you the PR is almost finished processing, then most likely that means no interview will be required so you shouldn't have to worry about it.

Thanks guys.. Someone told me its a must to have "immigrant visa" on a passport for an approved PR application even if the applicant is already in Canada, so does this mean my husband have to travel from Canada to Ghana for the PR visa and CORP? just curious if anyone has once been in this situation.. the contact address has already been changed to Canadian address.. Please share thoughts! Thanks!!

Yes even if he's in Canada he still needs a valid visa put in his passport. Depending on country specific rules, he may be able to courier the passport to the visa office.

Thanks Rob.. Cant CPP-O issue the immigrant visa and CORP since he's in Canada?

His visa office is Ghana, so CPP-O has absolutely nothing to do with his application. Everything must go through Ghana only, including putting visa in passport.

Please someone with a similar issue advise. I live in Canada and my wife lives in Nigeria. I applied for PR with my wife as the accompanying dependent and gave all proofs of marriage. I submitted the application in November and got PPR in April for myself only in Canada. I sent an email to CIC to instruct them to issue my wife's visa in Nigeria. I did not get any revert from CIC, so I called them. They assured me that everything was fine and they had instructed Ghana to issue my wife's visa for landing. It has been going to two weeks now and I or my wife have not heard anything from them. I want to know what to do, if this is usual for an application that has already been approved.
