question about changing visitor status to work permit

Hi all,

A friend of mine is in Canada right now under visitor permit. During her stay if she happens to find a job and the employer is willing to sponsor her for LMO to apply a WP,

1 Does she need to leave Canada first then re-enter?
2 while the application of her WP has been submitted, can she stay in Canada if her visitor permit expires during the process? Should she extend her stay as a visitor or leave the country? (say that she already got a positive LMO while she is in Canada)

1. Once she has an approved work permit, she will have to exit Canada and then re-enter to activate the work permit.
2. She will need to extend her visitor visa.
