Hi everyone,

I’m a permanent resident in Canada and I’m planning to bring my parents to visit me using the Super Visa program. I believe I meet the requirements for that.

I also want to invite my 14 year old brother to come with them on a visitor visa so our family can stay together for a short visit (around a month or so).

I had a few questions and would really appreciate if anyone has experience with a similar situation:

  1. Is it okay to apply for my parents’ Super Visa and my brother’s visitor visa at the same time, as part of a family visit plan?
  2. Does having my parents approved for Super Visa improve or affect my brother’s visitor visa chances?
  3. In the invitation letter, should I explain that all three of them are traveling together and staying with me?
  4. Any tips to avoid refusal for a minor applying to visit family in Canada?
If anyone has gone through a similar process or has advice, I’d really appreciate your insights.

Thanks in advance!

1. Yes but supervisas are for 6 month visits or longer with insurance and passed medical. Your brother applies separately from your parents with TRV.
2. Yes, it weakens both applications. Supevisa is to stay long term so parents will not have ties to return. Brother applies separately with funds, ties to return and travel history. He has no family ties since parents are in Canada.
3. Yes but need to justify why parents need to stay more than 6 months and brother's time will depend on entry when he comes to Canada.
4. Make sure he has a lot of money, ties to return and travel history.
Chances of refusal for brother are high.
