We got PR visa and planning to land 1st time. I've been nominated by Nova Scotia and I have a question on landing.

Since our parents are in USA, we are planning to first go there and spend 1 month with them and then planning to drive down to Halifax, NS through the Ontario border. Avoiding flight as there is strict luggage limit. In the case of driving, we can carry more goods to Halifax as we are starting our life in Canada.

1. Now my question is, are we allowed to drive and enter into a province (Ontario) which did not nominate me, being 1st time immigrant to Nova Scotia?

2. Does Ontario-MI border do proper immigration clearance for PR holders?

3. Do you know of anyone who did similar to this?

4. Can the immigration office suspect we have plans to stay in Ontario? Since we are driving into Ontario. But we are only driving through Ontario to NS.

5. Or do you all recommend to fly in to Halifax directly from USA, being 1st time immigrant?

1. Yes, because NS does not have a land border to the US. :p If you cross by land, then you go through a province with a land border, simple. Your being an NS nominee doesn't limit your landing options.

2. Looks like it (also, #3)

4. No.

5. You can drive to NS as planned. CBSA understands there are many options to enter Canada.

Best of luck!
