Hello Everyone.

I would like to get proper guidance from folks around here.

I got recently married and planning to apply as a "Federal skilled worker" for immigration to Canada with my wife as a dependent (Application will be sent in this December). I heard this entire PR process will take atleast 12 months. So here my concern is -

1. If my wife gets pregnant during this duration, what will happen to our application?
2. If the medicals we submit reveals that my wife is pregnant, how my application will be taken up?
3. If my wife gives birth to a child before/after the PR arrives, can i apply PR to the Child separately?
4. If we can apply for the Child separately, can you provide the details of that process.

Desperately waiting for the response as I've very less time to apply.

Regards,
Sri.

If the child is born before you receive PR then you must add the child to your PR application. You cannot sponsor the child later.

Please note, when Scylla says "before you receive PR", that means ANY time up until the moment that you land in Canada. It doesn't mean when the COPR and visa are issued. Don't make the mistake of thinking that the application is finished before your COPR is signed by CBSA at the border.

1. If your wife becomes pregnant before undergoing the medical and doesn't wish to have the chest X-ray done until after the birth, the app will be delayed until then. After the birth, the X-ray would then be done and the child added to the application.

2. The pregnancy will not affect the app except to possibly cause the delay I stated above.

3. If it's before you land as a PR, as said by the others above, you MUST add the child to your app. If it's born outside of Canada after you land as a PR, you will need sponsor the child. This will require at least one of you to be living in Canada, as PRs cannot sponsor from outside of Canada. if the child is born in Canada after you guys land as PRs, s/he will be Canadian.

4. Again, only if the child is born outside of Canada AFTER you land as PRs. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

I understand, there would be delay in processing the application until we submit the Medicals.
So I've below queries regarding Medicals submission:

Q1. How long (duration) will it take for asking for the Medicals after submitting the application?

Q2. Can we send our medicals along with the PR application?

Q3. I heard, medicals are valid for 1 yr, so can we undergo medical tests beforehand (say during the time of submitting the application) and submit them whenever they request.

Basically these questions are asked so that we can plan for kids accordingly.
Quick response is much appreciated.

1. No one can tell you that.

2. As per CIC, only certain Family Class applicants can do an upfront medical. You will need to wait for the request.

3. As above, you should wait until the medical is requested before doing it.
