I am from Sri Lanka and just about to get the passport for kids.

In the passport application, they have asked the applicant to put the signature in two boxes, which would later appear in the passport. My elder one of course would be able to write his name. But the younger one is just 2 yrs old. When I inquired the passport office they said, having a parent's signature is OK. But If I place my signature there, then It would be my signature which would appear in the little one's passport. Would this cause any problem in the immigartion process? Do I need to get her finger print stamped there.

People who have done this would be able to comment please.

This is urgent.

thanks

same procedure is followed in India too.
Ruka, u should carefully study the pp application form, it will be clearly mentioned therein what to do in case applying for children.

Hi,

Which thumb should be impressed - Left or right ?
Is there any difference for boys and girls

thanks

Hi ruka

yes there is diff between girls and boys. as in India left thumb impression is reqd in case of boys and rught thumb impression of girls. please follow instruction on ur pp application form. it must be clearly mentioned there.

Thanks for the replies.

There's nothing mentioned in the passport application about the kids. The standard procedure here is to include the kids in a parent's passport. But I learnt from the forum this was not OK for the Canadian PR

I've just called the passport office. This time they are saying, that we can just write the child's name there. So What I write there would appear in the passport. The officer did not want to impress the thumbs there.

If I write their names there (the two year old daughter can not write even a line on her own), do you think it would cause any issues in the future when it comes to the PR ?

thanks
