Hi,
I am filling out the citizenship application and have some queries.

1. I did a soft landing in early 2020 and left Canada the next day. However, I moved back to Canada permanently a few years later.
In the citizenship application under the Physical Presence section, it's asking for history from the past 5 years. I’m not sure if I should include my actual 2020 entry and exit, since it was a little more than 5 years ago from today's date.

When I try to add it in the old physical presence calculator, it gives an error saying to only enter dates within the 5-year window. What’s the correct approach here?

2. I also worked remotely for a company where the entire team is virtual and there is no physical office as such. But on the tax form, they have a registered address. So, should I enter my home address or the company address in the tax form?

3. I worked for a few months, and after that, I became a full-time homemaker (focused on parenting). During this period, I also did some volunteer work.
For the citizenship application, should I write a letter of explanation for this gap in employment? And is it okay to list "homemaker" as my occupation during that time?

1. You don't need to include it and you can't count it. It's a rolling five year window, so physical presence before the five years doesn't count.
2. Either way is fine. Since this is for verifying your physical presence, I think it's typical to list the home address and note that one worked remotely from home.
3. My guess is that you wouldn't fill in anything in the employment section since you weren't employed by an employer. But see also the advice given in https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...oard/threads/about-q-11-for-homemaker.524984/ and https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...ads/citizenship-application-homemaker.267608/

Well, didn't you already deal with this when applying for PR/Express Entry (EE)? Back then you would have also had to answer this when filling out your profile (and your actual app post-ITA). So just do the same thing there that you did there back then.

So IRCC renamed it from "implied" to "maintained" but it's the same thing - for that period you had maintained status.

I feel that the current citizenship app can be a bit confusing. Basically you have to pigeonhole your status into one of the categories that they list. They really should just add a "maintained status" entry.

Anyways, what to pigeonhole into. Now, granted this is for EE. But from the horse's mouth: https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1128&top=29

> 1. If you’re in Canada with maintained status and are still authorized to work at the time you complete your Express Entry profile: Answer “yes” to the question “Does [your name] have a valid work permit for the current job in Canada?”

(Ignore the warning about TRP as that doesn't apply to you - TRP is confusingly named but it's a rare and exceptional status that doesn't apply to most temporary residents.)

Also remember that the reason they ask is just to help them determine your physical presence. The actual type of status that you had (worker vs student or even visitor!) doesn't matter, what's important is that you had it.

Also see this older forum post, https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...worker-and-student-status.663501/post-8295017 which confirms that when switching from study to PGWP specifically, the implied status fits under the temporary foreign worker category.

Edit: Also see https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...tudies-permit-can-i-work.852262/post-10952396 - sometimes you get a WP-EXT emailed to you while waiting for the PGWP to come through. the WP-EXT is a document that explicitly states that you can work, which can be a supporting document as evidence of your maintained or implied status.
