Hi

I have couple questions to ask before filing my application for PR under CEC class.

1) Can I apply for US visa before applying for CEC. I hope it doesn't give any bad impression to the visa officer?

2) I am from India and I have got my pcc for India from Consulate General, Toronto. Do I need police clearance for Canada as well?

Thanks

1. It doesn't matter which you do first...the US embassy is separate from the Canadian Consulate. You should have legal status in Canada when you apply for the visa.

2. Not for Canada. Here's what the CEC guide says:
Police certificates

If you and your family members who are 18 years of age and older and are not permanent residents or Canadian citizens have to provide:
•a valid police certificate, or
•police clearance, or
•record of no information.

These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5609ETOC.asp

Hello,

I have a few queries while filling out the forms.

In the generic application form for Canada, what would be the current occupation ? Is it the same as mentioned in the WP ? Accordingly, what will be the Intended occuaption ?
In the additional dependants declaration form, in case of citizenship(s), if we have only 1, should we leave the 2nd citizenship field blank or write n/a after printing the form ? Also, if the dependant selected is spouse, should the 'Dependant Type' field (having options type A/B/C dependants) be left blank or n/a after printing the form ?

Pls clarify.

Anyone who can advise on this. Thanks in advance !!

Current occupation = your job title e.g. teacher, software developer, teaching assistant, etc. What is on the work permit is usually the unit group for your NOC

Intended occupation = same as your current occupation at the time of your application. You can always change to another occupation in the future.

If you have just one citizenship, write N/A in the 2nd field. If it does not allow you to validate the form, leave it blank but make sure you write "N/A" after printing the form.

Hi SenoritaBella,
Thanks so much. Considering just myself and my spouse, do we need to fill in the additional dependants declaration form ? I guess not. Please confirm.
