With new government some say it will be quicker less backlog
Hi, which new government? Liberals or Conservatives? I heard if Conservatives are in power, they will throw so many immigrants including PRs out of Canada. Not sure if protected persons are including with that agenda. I'm super worried as well as confused about the future of all the immigrants.

Conservatives consistently reduce immigration programs when in power. A Conservative government will be bad for anyone trying to immigrate. They can't throw PRs out of Canada. This will not happen.

I highly doubt there will be faster processing or larger quotas. Carney is more right leaning than Trudeau and purely due to the economy and our fiscal situation there will can’t be any loosening of current immigration projections/strategy. If anything there may be more tightening and reexamination of extra support payments for example. Conservatives are more likely to tighten or cut more but there will still be immigration especially programs that drive the economy.

Hi guys,
Could you please confirm if anyone who applied for Refugee PR in Quebec but moved to Ontario is processing faster?
I applied in Sep 2023 in Quebec but moved to Ontario almost a year ago and changed my address through webform , but now checking my local MP , and it said 45 months processing time :(

Sorry, what does it mean, and what should I do?
I moved to Ontario in August 2024 and changed my residential and mailing addresses using the webform(IRCC). Is there anything else I should do?

For example is your employer in Ontario? Do you own or lease any property in Quebec? Have you changed any government identification to reflect your new address in Ontario vs Quebec? Do you have any dependents and if yes do they have any ties to Quebec?

Follow up with IRCC via webform asking about whether you will now be processed as outside of Quebec file.

Changing province is not a simple choice — it’s a life-altering sacrifice. The fact that anyone would suggest "just move to another province" like it's easy shows they don’t understand the real weight of your situation.

I did that, I moved out of Quebec but is really hard. If you are with your family in Canada, you can wait long time in Quebec.
If you have dependants outside, I think is good option to move to other province. Because takes years to get PR in Quebec maybe 1-2 years longer than out of Quebec. It´s just my opinion.

They announced that they want to introduce another bill to reduce the number of permanent residents accepted in Quebec — 35,000 next year, and 25,000 the year after. OMG, this will make the current 45-month delay even longer

You know, Quebec is nice but Canada is big. I think we cant change inmediately any law, takes years. So life is happening. If you consider can wait, do it, if not, there are many options. Try to find job in other province. It´s hard but for example I know people who applied on 2021 May, still waiting for PR in Quebec. Amazing! Are you willing to wait so long?

I am with my family here and still wating for 2 years . I got my Pro-E from Quebec and fonde a good job it is realy hard to relocate, i am completely stuck.
