Hi,

I am a postdoctoral fellow for last 1.3 years in Quebec on LMIA exempt work permit. I am eligible to apply for Canadian experience class. I live with my spouse and she is unemployed for last 1.3 years. I am looking to move from Quebec to Ontario. I have got an extension of work permit in Quebec for one more year (June 2019 - May 2020). I would like to claim 50 points for this job offer. Is it possible ? I am planning to submit my application in the month of May, 2019. Will it affect PR approval since I am going to stay in Quebec for one more year ?

Your suggestions are welcome.

And specific requirement is that you don't intend to live in Québec, therefore I am sure any offers from Quebec are automatically deemed not suitable and would not grant you any points, in factx this might be seen as you intend to settle there leading to refusal because of that. So I wouldn't not try to claim those points.

Also this extension until May 200 wouldn't not be enough even elsewhere in Canada. For you to claim those 50 points the offer needs to very clearly indicate its for at least a year starting on whenever you get your PR. Since you will not get your PR for about 6 months, if you apply this week, it would not meet this requirement.

So no, there are many reasons for which this will not help you get those 50 points and might actually be detrimental.

I'm pretty sure that with your education, especially if it's Canadian, you don't even need these additional 50 points or do you?

Hi,

Thanks for your opinion. It is clear to me now. I have got 447 points. That is slightly below April 2019 cutoff score. My education is non Canadian. I can improve my IELTS score though.

Have you already gotten points for your spouse's education and language scores?
