Try asking this in the settlement forum as well.

One more question: to get the COPR signed and her passport stamped, I'm assuming we can cross at any border crossing into Quebec? ie. we can just drive down to New York, turn around and drive back in?
.

Yes. Absolutely.

Good question... I don't think you need to land at Quebec crossing so landing in Ontario would also be possible.

We did not have to show the CSQ at the border in Lacolle; just the COPR.

Bonjour :)

I have a question. I am sponsering my husband and if we are approved for PR we will be living in Montréal. Once he will land in Canada, can we go to the states together? Normally, he needs a visa to enter USA.

Thanks !

His entry to the USA is based on his passport. Being a Canadian PR means nothing in the eyes of USA. So until he becomes Canadian Citizen, he will require a visa to enter the USA.

MICC is now called MIDI and they've updated all the forms and added a checklist form that is only in French. Since that checklist was issued in May, I don't really understand why they couldn't have provided an English translation yet.

Hi,

I have a question regarding the submission of CSQto NDVO. Do we have send the original copy to NDVO or the photocopie of it ?

thank you

For those settling in Quebec and need a Health Care Card, be prepared to bring *all* your documents. :)

We landed way back in January, but since our Health Care Card was still valid so we didn't opt to go immediately. In the mean time, we received our PR card and thought that would be enough to get our new RAMQ card.

But.... The PR card is known to truncate your name if it's too long.

The COPR allows for your full name and more characters.

In our case, luckily we had our COPR and PR card when we went. If you want to use your full name at RAMQ and Service Canada for your SIN, bring your COPR.

Both clerks acknowledged that it's a known issue with the PR card with truncation, but they can't do anything about it.
