Hi :) Is there anybody here in this group who submitted an application for restoration and interims wor permit with the new Public Policy exempting certain out-of-status foreign national from immigration requirements? I have a friend who might have been fallen out of status. He has the following issue (posting for a friend):

"I have an IEC working holiday visa (expiry date December 26th, 2020). I checked with an immigration consultant who told me that I am able aply for an extension of my IEC working holiday and that this would put me into implied status until a decision is made. Based on the advice of this consultant, I have applied for an extension of my IEC work permit November 24ths - about 30 days prior to the expiry of my permit.

My problem: I just saw something on a FB group that it is not possible to extend an IEC visa and that i will not be under implied status. Is this correct? If so, then I will be out of status as of today?

If this is the case my question is:
Would the current Public Policy exemption (i.e. the policy exempting certain out-of-status foreign nationals from immigration requirements) apply to me? My understanding is that I could apply for 1) restoration of my status and 2) an interims work permit? My employer wants to continue employing me and has made a job offer through the employer portal and paid the fee (230CAD - employer specific job offer). Would I be able to submit the job offer and job offer number with my interims work permit application? My understanding is that I have until December 31, 2020 to submit my application? Would I be able to apply with the job offer number (LMIA excempt Work permit) or do I need to submit my application with an LMIA number? And would this allow me to continue working or will I have to wait for IRCC to make a decision?"

Thanks so much for your help!

is this only possible for people who are out of status? what about someone who need to change his work permit (still valid) for a new one and need to start very soon the new job, can he apply too under this so that he can start working on the new job while waiting for the decision ?

no laid off but changing the job from postdoc to university professor ? (same employee, but different occupation)
will it be possible to start the new job while waiting for the work permit?

Unfortunately the policy I quoted won't apply to you in that case. You would need to meet the requirements in the link to qualify.
