Hello,

My PR card expires when I was outside Canada. The Canadian Embassy issued a PRTD/TVRP with R-1 Category. I am wondering if I have to prepare documents at the border to proof my residency to the agent. I already have signed a rental contract of 1 year and I will enter with a stable job as a proof I will stay for long. Do you think they will ask me more questions or investigate for more? I am wondering if I should bring with me all my files for proofing. Or, R-1 is like the PR card, they will no ask more questions and let me pass. Then, it will be up to me to verify when I have to apply for PR or citizenship?

I am an anxious person, that's why I am asking so much. Do I have to concern? Thank you.

Are you in compliance with the residency obligation or not?

If so - no issues.

If not - since it's recently issued, they at border likely will not ask questions apart from routine, or if they do, just tell them the truth; basically at border they're going to take it that the officers at IRCC who approved your PRTD have analyzed and made a decision (i.e. they're not going to revisit that decision or process unless something clearly wrong or fraudulent).

But for simplicity: assume that this 'grace' applies only to your first entry to Canada after getting the PRTD approved, and stay in Canada until in compliance.

They don't ask more questions? I just need to have my visa PRTD in my passeport with the ArriveCan app and that's it? nothing more will be asked? There is no second interview?

They may and can even if you enter with a PR card, but it would be non-routine. Just don't overthink it.

Agree with above - but it's NOT unusual to get asked questions, just answer truthfully and don't overthink it. You have the PRTD which amounts to approval.
