Hello everyone,

I'll be returning to Canada after doing a soft landing some months ago. I didn't receive my PR card yet, so I've been informed I need to request a PRTD (Permanent Resident Travel Document) to be able to board a plane to return to Canada.

But I also have a TRV from before I became a resident, it's date still hasn't expired.

So my question is, can I just show my previous TRV to the airline, and be allowed to board and enter Canada, without the need to request a PRTD?

Thank you!

No, you cannot. as PR, you cannot hold any Canadian visas or permits, as you are a permanent resident- you visas and permits are not valid anymore if you are a PR.
You have to request a PRTD to fly into Canada on a commercial flight, or, if you are able to fly into the States, fly there and cross through a land border using your coPR (I believe that is possible).
