Hi all,

I am currently in the country on an extended work permit (expires 2020). My husband who is Canadian is doing spousal sponsorship and everything is fine on that front.

However, he is in the military and we have just been posted from Alberta to Quebec. Do i need to notify them that I have moved province? And will this affect my application? I know that QC has a different approach.

Thanks in advance

Hi

Yes, you need to notify them of the move. Depending on where you are in the process, IRCC will at some point tell you to apply for a CSQ. I think it takes around a month to get a CSQ these days, so it won't really have any effect on the processing. It does unfortunately add nearly $300 to your costs.

That make sense now. I was reading about CSQs but didn't really understand when or if I need one. Thanks!

Hi everyone,

My question runs along the same lines as the other one but I am Canadian and my husband is from The UK, currently working on an open work permit while waiting for his PR. He had to do an extension on his work permit because the PR processing is taking so long (into our 14th month now). He is still allowed to work during the extension process but the question is, can we move to another province, and him work, during the extension process AND before his PR has been approved? Or do we have to wait for the extension to be complete?

Thank you!

Hi

You are free to move. Make sure to have mail forwarding set up.

Just to clarify, even though his original work permit ran out and he has applied for the extension but it hasn’t been granted yet, he can move and work for a Different company?
