Happy to know the work experience requirement would be reduced from 24 months to 12.
Just curious when will this amendment take effect? Does they mention it anywhere?

if you read the same link, just above the foot note, it is mentioned as "17. These Regulations come into force on January 1, 2013."

They want to change language requirements- you need to get CLB 7 in all four skills (as of now, you could get 6 in of the skills if you have 8 in others). I took IELTS, got 8.5 in reading/listening/speaking and only 6.5 in writing, so my question is, how do IELTS and CLB correspond? Are IELTS grades equal to CLB grades? Would it mean I have to re-take IELTS (skill level A (education supervisor), arrrgh?

The good thing is, for the CEC 2-year work experience stream, the work experience requirement is reduced to one year. I was originally going to apply under Canadian degree+ one year work experience stream, but it's taking me too long to accumulate one year experience, so I guess I'll just count my Teaching Assistantship at the uni as my part-time work experience and apply under the work experience stream, if I got everything correctly...

IELTS grades are not equal to CLB grades but you have to arrive at the corresponding equal.

CLB Level 9
Listening: over 7.5
Reading: over 6.5
Writing: over 6.5
Speaking: over 6.5

Listening: 7.5
Reading: 6.5
Writing: 6.5
Speaking: 6.5

CLB Level 7
