Hey guys,
I'm sponsoring my wife (i'm already approved by CIC) and last Thursday we received the following letter from the Visa Office.

June 27, 2013
File: XXXXXXXX

Dear Ms.XXXXXXX,

We are writing to you with regard to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

In order to continue processing of your application we require the following information:

proof of funds available for settling in Canada;

any documents related to the employment prospects;

arrangements for the apartment rent, etc.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL DOCUMENTS NOT IN ENGLISH OR FRENCH, INCLUDING A PERSONAL WRITTEN SUBMISSION MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A TRANSLATION.

You are requested to write to this office at your earliest convenience with information regarding the above-marked items. If you do not contact us within thirty (30) days from the date of this letter, we will make our decision on the information that we currently possess.

Thank you for your cooperation, and for your interest in Canada.

Sincerely yours,

Now, I am confused because they write this to my WIFE. (Ms.). So they asked the sponsored person to provided a financial proof of available funds... We are worried because my wife does not have any money. She is a housewife and even last year when she was working, she did not have any bank account since it was not an official work.

I think the only thing we can do is to give them a bank statement but if we give mine, would it be okay? and I don't have that much of money myself on my account ( 3-4 thousand) ...

Should I send them the same documents I sent to CIC with my plan after our arrival. reference letters from employers and all that ? what if they want ONLY my wife's bank statement... should i transfer quickly some money on her account? Is this really necessary, I thought that financial support was not mandatory for sponsorship applications..

Any help from you guys would be very much appreciated.

Hello :)

Are you currently living outside Canada with your spouse?

It appears they are trying to verify your intentions of returning/settling in Canada once the PR is approved.
I am sure more experienced members will advise as well

Sounds like you are nearing the end !!

Hello cdnmom,

thank you for your reply.
Yes we are in Ukraine with my spouse.We did the whole process outside of Canada and now we are waiting for her permanent residency application to be completed..

You are probably right, It might be that in fact. I think they want to make sure that we will be okay in Canada. But I heard a few bad stories like : VO declined the permanent residency application because they THOUGHT that the sponsored applicant was lying (of course it does not apply to me but what tells me that they do not think the same about our application?) we have been married for less than 2 years. they might think we are doing a fake marriage. And to tell the truth, I find it pretty frustrating to receive this email close to the end of the process.

I like your comment, it reassures me that we need to stay positive and send them what they want trying not to worry.

Do you have an offer of employment?
Where will you live when you arrive?
Have you made arrangements to rent an apartment?

If you will be staying with family ... have them prepare a letter advising they will provide accommodations until you find employment.
They aren't doubting your relationship... because you are outside Canada... you need to prove you intend to move back to Canada :)

I think you are very near the end :) :)

I sent with my sponsorship application :

A plan written by me, explaining our future plans for our new life together in Canada as a proof of intention to return back to Canada;
4 letters from family and friends proving our relationship and willing to help us out in our immigration process;and to provide housing at our arrival (3 IN FRENCH, 1 IN ENGLISH)
2 reference letters from my past employers ready to recommend me at my return to Canada;

I do not have any employment offer, since I was waiting to get an answer from them to start to look up. same for the apartment. but i think i can show our research so far.

Should I send that back again to the Visa Office?

That is what I would provide along with your bank account to show you have funds available until you find employment
Good luck

Any updates from the Kiev VO. We are also applying through Kiev (Feb 2013 sheet), I find they have been slowing down in the past month, our status on e-cas is still, "application received".
Did you notice what date your status changed to "in process" in e-cas. ?

Hi Maz001,
We did not get any info from Kyiv until June 27th. Meanwhile we applied in End of January - Beg. of February for my wife's CSQ (Certificat de Selection du Quebec) which is required to obtain Permanent residency in Quebec.

Although, Kyiv started to communicate with us, our e-case still shows "application recieved only" I think they simply did not update. Yesterday, I got an email from Kyiv again asking us to send them the CSQ and it is supposed to be the final stage before the passport inquiry. We sent it. I'll let you know the outcome!
So, if you sent your application one month later than me. I believe you should get some kind of answer from Kyiv in a month or so...

I'm interested to know your story ! I do not know many Canadians around here. It'll be cool to meet!
