Hey guys.

I'd been working at a start up for 2 years where I was a co-founder. We had a VC and stuff. But our company wasn't legally registered (We were in the process, but it eventually failed).

I was the CTO and programmer there. Can I use this as a work experience?
How can I prove it?

(second question: My field of study was mechanical engineering but I'm a programmer, would that make trouble?)

Thanks a lot

You can certainly use this as work experience provided you were paid a regular salary. You'll need to show proof you were paid (e.g. pay slips, bank deposits, tax returns).

Thanks for your answer. Since it was our own startup, we didn't pay ourselves from the money that our investor gave us. We only did that for the last 7 months :(

Work experience only counts if you were paid for working. So if you did pay yourselves, it won't count.

Thanks again.

What if I get a letter from our investor that they paid us? Because our salary was verified and paid by them.
Does the fact that I wasn't their employee reduce the chance?

You can claim the 7 months if that's the period of time you actually took a salary. You cannot claim the periods that you did not take a salary yourself.

You'll want to provide the letter from your investor as well as proof you were paid for the 7 months you are claiming (e.g. evidenec of bank deposits, tax statements, etc.).
