Proof of support sponsorship common law

Hello, guys.
My partner and I are applying for the sponsorship process and at the moment he is unemployed, but looking for jobs. I would like to know if he has high incomes on his tax return in recent years, can he still be my sponsor, even though he is not currently working?

There is no minimum financial requirement needed for sponsorships, unless kids are involved

Although no financial requirement you do have to show you can support yourselves. If you have good savings that would be good enough. Past income doesn't mean that you have money to support yourselves
