If a family member/parent wants to visit his son/daughter in Canada to attend son's/daughter's wedding but the parent is:
1. Retired/not employed
2. Cant show proof of pension funding
3. Disabled due to a life changing medical experience like stroke but in a very stable condition now and recovering with good signs.

How can he show "proof of return to home country" so that the visa is not rejected.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Present a genuine reason to visit their children . Your parents own anything in India or they are living in a rented Flat.

Genuine reason to visit Canada is there (visit family and attend wedding) but want a solid proof of return. He sold all his properties back in the days and now living on rental.

Show their bank account with large amount of money

I don't think showing large amount of money in the bank is enough, money can be easily be put in the bank and taken out for the purpose of showing VO they are financially well off. This is not a substitute to come back to your country.

You could show property such as land, show that you are getting monthly pension from the government and have a savings habit.
Show you are getting some kind of rental income from your tenants, this is also proof of property that you have rented to someone and you have to come back to collect rent

Unfortunately that is not a "proof of return to home country", he can see a doctor anywhere in the world

How about proof of ongoing medical treatment like physiotherapy and monthly checkups from a family doctor?

This is also a considerable proof for old person. It can show how important is medical treatment back home, so he has to be here after a while for medical checkups.

Thanks Ashoka,

Has anyone you know used medical treatment as proof of return? More info on this would be appreciated.

Thanks
