Proof of relationship?

I have a friend from Russia who wants to visit Canada over the holidays for a period of 3-4 weeks. The application asks: "You must provide proof of your relationship with your host or family member."

We have no proof of relationship as we are not related, and the online form won't send without that document attached. What does it mean?

Hmmm I'd say just list the relationship (friend, etc) in the invitation letter and use it, along with the host's driver's license showing the address & give your contact info in the letter of course.
