Our AOR was received a couple of days ago. In the letter from the embassy, it states they require the following:

Proof of Relationship. Examples of evidence may be, but are not limited to:

· Joint bank account statements

· Joint properties

· Joint mortgages

· Joint memberships

· Medical/life insurance showing your spouse as beneficiary

· Etc.

-------------------------------------------------------------
In the application, we have made it clear we do not live together. We have provided proof of relationship in the form of emails, pictures, Skype logs, cards, etc., so why are they now asking for joint proof of relationship documents? Obviously, we can't provide that since we don't live together. I'm in Canada and my wife is in Mexico.

If you have an insurance policy you can enrol her even though she is not here in the country with you. If you have a visa/ mastercard you can get her an additional card and send that to them with a letter explaining that when she is here you will get joit bank accounts because she physically needs to be here to sign the joint accounts

I just got off the phone with RBC. They said I can't get her an additional card unless she is here in Canada. What bank do you deal with that allows this?

I have a Capital One mastercard and they will issue a secondary/supplementary card in someone else's name, no questions asked. All you need to give them is a name and that's it. The credit card bill each month will show both names on it.

Hi. Canada wont allow your spouse on the credit card if not in Canada. What I did was provide a will and got the bank to make my spouse the beneficiary for my RSPs and all accounts. they can print out proof of this for you. Hope that helps.

it said "but not limited to". does the letter specifically said "joint proof of relationship"? how about phone bills? western union receipts if you have. Or bank receipts.

Yes, it states clearly "joint." I've provided them with three years of phone bills (cell and home) showing calls to my wife as well as Western Union receipts and international remittance receipts.

Td canada trust. Did it online. No questions asked. And cibc as well. If you have online banking there should be an option for a supplementary card.

That's weird. I just some pictures, a few skype logs and some boarding passes (when i visited her) and some letters. Since you don't live together, it is normal that you don't have any joint accounts, etc.

Does your application have any "red flags" that would make them question your relationship? Like very infrequent visits or no family present at the wedding, etc...

Agreed! Maybe it's a "form letter" sent by mistake. We are also "married" but were not living together when we applied and we included NONE of the above.

I don't think it does. We have plenty of wedding photos with her family present, and I have been to Mexico in April, 2010, May, 2010, and February, 2012 (when we were married).

Did you send your wedding certificate together with the application? Have you ever lived together in the past?

Seems it's been a few years since you got married and the time you are now applying to sponsor her. Can't that be a 'red flag'? why didn't you start the sponsorship process immediately after marriage?
