proof of relationship, they have to be translated?

Hey guys,

I have my emails and chat logs as proof of relationship, but they are not in english or french, I have to translate them in english/french by a certified translator or they just look at the people involved in the conversation and the date when the conversations took place? I want to apply for inland sponsorship, anyone had been in a similar sitation like mine? thanks

They have to be translated. You could just send in the list of emails and logs, which shows the frequency. Then I would choose just a few emails over the whole course of the relationship and submit those - translated. Say you have more if the visa officer wants to see them.

Emails and chat logs are secondary proof, not as important as other kinds of proof. If you have a lot of other evidence your relationship is genuine, you don't have to submit too much of this secondary proof. As well, because it is less important proof, you can get away with not using an official translator. A friend could do it. Ideally, you would use the same translator as you would for official documents, but because of the cost many people have informally translated things like emails. They are usually accepted. But just a warning: if the case goes to an appeal, informally translated things may not be accepted by the judge.
