Hello everyone,

My girlfriend applying for a visitor visa to Canada. We prepared all documents but we are still confused about one thing: Proof of relationship.

What kind of proof are they looking for? I might be wrong, but given the nature of the visitor visa, I doubt that they require a proof similar to what they ask for when applying for spouse sponsorship application (like chat printout, call logs, money transfers, evidence we spent time together, pictures together etc....). I am saying this because the main concern for visitor visa is the visitor overstaying their visa and not proving whether the relationship is genuine or not.

What do you think?

Thanks in advance.

There is no such thing as girlfriend in IRCC definition of relationships: someone is family (spouse/child), extended family (other relatives) or I imagine just a friend.

If you have not been in a common law relationship with the person, they really have no relationship with you aside from a friend. In that case the strength of other parts of your girlfriend's application is what will win acceptance.
