Hi guys,

Im currently working in Canada, and applied for PR for myself and my spouse who is outside Canada. For the "proof of means of financial support" document, what is the best document to upload as support? (past 4 months bank history? pay stub?)

Also, if I click the "?" mark next to where I should upload the document, the below massage showed up:
If you are applying for permanent residence in Canada, you must provide an official letter issued by your financial institution indicating your financial profile. This must:

  • list of all your bank (chequing and savings) and investment accounts, the account numbers, dates each account was opened and the balance of each account over the past six months,
  • list all outstanding debts, such as credit cards and loans,
  • be printed on the letterhead of the financial institution, and include your name and the contact information of the financial institution (address, telephone number and e-mail address).
Also, does it matter if what I have in my bank is less than what is the recommended $ amount in CIC? ( I think the recommended amount is around $10,000 for two people)

Thanks.

Which application strand are you? The amounts for on "skilled" strand are given here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp
C$15312 for two people. I think this would be the minimum acceptable amount. If you are on CEC strand you don't need POF.
Hi,

Thanks for replying. Sorry, I forgot to mention, Im in the Canadian Experience Class. However, in the support document list on my application POF showed up, so Im not sure what kind of document I should provide.

"You do not have to meet the funds requirement if you were invited to apply under the Canadian Experience Class.
The system currently asks all applicants to provide a proof of funds document. If you don’t need to provide proof of funds, you must upload a letter explaining either that you have been invited to apply under the Canadian Experience Class, or that you have a valid job offer."

There is no formal format but I guess you can write something like:

"To whom it may concern,

As per CIC's guidelines (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1145&top=29), I do not need to provide proof of funds since I have been invited to apply under the Canadian Experience Class.

Yours truly,

Signature + date"

I guess if you do a quick search on the forum you will find other sample letters.
