Hi guys,

I'm trying to sponsor my wife and I need to provide proof that I plan on establishing us in Canada once her application process is successfully completed, right?

So I don't have a straight up job offer to show, nor a property deed. However, what I'm doing is asking my dad to write a letter where he claims that I will live in his house with my wife until I find work, at which point we will move out. However, I'm worried if this brings into question my ability to be financially responsible for her. Will Canadian Immigration think that I won't be able to support her by living with my parents? Is there something on the letter that he can say that might help?

What I'm thinking, is if he wrote that "while they are living with me and until my son finds work, I will provide them with financial assistance and cover their living expenses".

What do you guys think? Please let me know.

Thanks!

Getting your Dad to write a letter stating that you and your wife can live with him for a while seems like a good idea to me. Not sure I would take it further by saying that you will essentially be "wards of Dad's state", rather provide CIC with things like employment history (and compensation), education, current employment (and compensation) and anything else that reasonably builds a case that you will be capable of finding employment....and they might look at your wife's capabilities too I would think? (Perhaps a certificate attesting to her English proficiency level, if it's good, wouldn't hurt either.) I'm not an expert in this area, I'm sure others who have had this kind of experience will offer some advice as well. Good luck.

There is nothing wrong with your dad writing CIC that he will provide accommodation for you and will help out financially if needed in your adaptation period. If anything, it makes CIC at ease knowing that you have someone to rely on and will not ask for welfare.

You can add anything that proves you have some savings and a plan: bank statements for the last 2-3 months, a letter stating you can't look for a job as long as you have no idea when the visa gets issued, but you have looked for employment - attach some of you browser's history showing job sites you have surfed in the last 3-4-5 months etc.

We didn't have neither a job offer, nor a property deed, but we still got our application approved.

Good luck!
