Hi Forum,

I received ITA and am in the process of preparing the necessary documents. Here's a quick question:

- My parents are gifting me the $12k required for the application. Is this okay? I heard something about getting a signed "Gift Deed" from my mom and attaching it to my application.

- I'll receive it in local currency, is that OK?

- What happens if the account I receive money into is less than 6 months old? What if it's a week old?

Thanks for the answers

How notorious does the gift deed need to be? I don't think it's that uncommon for one's parents to have twelve thousand dollars to give to their son.

My bank won't give me an account statement with 6 month average balance stated. I also have a 6-month old account but I prefer not to disclose my entire transaction history, because it's in a foreign language as well and there's chance that the visa officer will mis-read something and my application would get delayed.

1 - You can have it in blank paper stating that it is a gift and not a loan but you still need proof of the transfer

2 - If your bank wont provide your 6 months balance you have to get the bank statements and translate them.

3 - Wow Omg Such Visa Wow

Thanks. Is the 6 month average balance a must-have? I couldn't find any reference to it on the CIC website, it just says that I have to prove I have the funds and that it's mine.

So if I submitted an account statement (in English) showing that I have said funds, bank receipt in English outlining the transaction from my parent's account to my account, and a gift deed, wouldn't that be enough?
