hi - what evidence for 'proof of funds' is acceptable at the port of entry when landing for the first time?

will a bank statement accompanied by a letter from the bank of a foreign currency account (GBP) in my name be sufficient or do you think I should carry the amount in cash / travellers cheques / bank draft? i can't think of any other way, but if anyone has any other suggestions, please do let me know.

thanks

When I landed for PR in 2009 I brought bank statements for the last 3 months, including obviously the most recent one showing a balance of slightly more than $10k. Get the statements stamped & signed by your bank and you're good. If you can get a letter from the bank confirming your balance on top of that, even better although it's not necessary.
