Gold (not jewelry) is acceptable.

I submitted my POF as gold coin, i had less cash in bank, I took the pictures attached with receipt which was hand written, for valuation I print the current gold rates from Internet and attached it also.

I already got my visa.

My Visa office was London, hope this helps.

you got lucky. The burden of proving that an applicant has adequate funds lies on the applicant. The best way is to keep it as straight-forward as possible- Savings account in the PA name (or Joint Account with Spouse- if spouse is included in the application). FD's etc are acceptable too since they can be easily liquidated (whereas something like a property is illiquid, can't be liquidated easily).
Gold is not recommended- because their value varies, there is no way to prove it's yours (could easily have been borrowed and assessed in your name) etc. That's the way Visa Officers are trained- to find faults to disqualify/reject applications.

Stick to Wayne's suggestion and provide as much proof as possible that the funds are yours.

This is little bit weird

I can also take the pictures of gold coins (belong to others) with manual receipt bearing my name

Anyway you have clear the hurdles that's more important.

Visa officers are very trained, they can judge if the applicant statement is correct or not, they have reasons to believe if I own gold, i am working in Saudi Arabia earning 4000+ CAD per month, situation would be different in case I was living in my home country earning 100-500 CAD max, hope you got the point.
